Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
1. In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein obsessively studies the nature of human life until he is able to actually create the life of his monster. Now it's your turn. Shelley's novel was originally written as a ghost story. However, in the past two centuries, science has evolved, giving humans the capability to actually engage in some creation processes. Further, we can now change existing human forms in drastic ways. By completing this WebQuest, you will assume the role of a scientist to research and engage in these processes.
2. First, click the "Tell me the secrets" button below. This will take you to a page which contains materials that will explain how we create and alter human life in the 20th/21st century. Read and view each resource with careful consideration.
3. Once you read and view these materials, you will create a personalized "monster". You will do this based on what traits you think denote the perfect man or woman.
4. Once your monster comes to life, you will share your creation with your fellow scientists.
